Configuration

Configuring software appropriately is one of the most tedious tasks in setting up an SDI. The WhereGroup provides configuration support for all kinds of geospatial processing software packages.

Digital Cartography

It is a challenge and an art to create and maintain high quality maps - more so in the digital world. The art of traditional paper map cartography has to be transferred to match with current technology. This new technology also adds a new level of complexity to map making and new requirements grow with it. If you have to comply to standards and legal requirements for the representation of your maps, this can lead to quite a challenge and cost factor in your project, no matter which product you use.

However, the WhereGroup has extensive experience due to the detailed mapping requirements of the German market. Official digital cadastral base maps mark one end of the range a tourist information system with snow covered mountains in winter and green slopes in summer the other.

UMN MapServer Symbology

UMN MapServer has a powerful cartographic engine; we can implement your individual configuration according to your requirements. To achieve appropriate representation of the spatial data, considerable time can go into configuring MAP files. The basic structure of the MAP file is straightforward, but it needs a lot of practice to meet the needs of the end users efficiently. We offer specific Training for MapStorer, which allows you to configure and manage service configurations yourself.

Customised User-Interfaces

Based on more than a decade of experience, the WhereGroup focuses on the implementation of complex WebGIS applications to suite your specific requirements. Functional user interface designs play a key role in acceptance by the end users. We create user interfaces with the Mapbender framework and show you how to maintain them yourself. Empower your users be letting them collaborate.

Metadata

Maybe one of the oldest, certainly one of the most complex topics in geospatial data processing is the creation, maintenance, management and discovery of metadata. A true measurable benefit only materializes when metadata is used by all nodes on a distributed network, and all agree to the same standards.

To really get a grip on this topic and to evaluate the potential benefits in the context of your solution requires some careful consideration. Let us help you to find the right answers.
