The FOSS4G 2007 Conference is the Free and Open Source Software for Geospatial Meeting of the Tribes. All OSGeo projects will be represented there with workshops, presentations, development sprints and informal meetings. Professional businesses will show their services and present cutting edge FOSSGIS technology in productive environments. Users will show what they have done and what is planned for the future, a lot of tech talk will shy away too many suits. Maybe. But more than that it will be a place to meet and talk and have fun doing it (the suits too).
From the Website:
Focused on the practical "make it work, get it done" world of open source application development, this annual conference boasts a very high concentration of geo-spatial technical opinion leaders. Attendance at this event has grown at over 50% a year since its inception in 2003, paralleling the rapid growth and adoption curve of open source geo-spatial tools in the marketplace.
"Victoria is located on the picturesque southern tip of Vancouver Island. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery, go whale watching, fishing, tour the world famous Buchart Gardens, and visit one of the best museums in Canada. Victoria is also a hub of Open Source GIS development with many companies and government organizations taking part in bringing GIS to the masses. Many familiar FOSS GIS projects are developed in British Columbia, such as: JTS, GeoServer, UDig, Geotools, GDAL, Jump, and of course PostGIS."
